PLATO MYTH OF THE CAVE...

The Allegory of the Cave – also known as the Analogy of the CavePlato's Cave, or the Parable of the Cave – is an allegory used by the Greek philosopherPlato in his work The Republic to illustrate "our nature in its education and want of education" (514a). It is written as a fictional dialogue between Plato's teacherSocrates and Plato's brother Glaucon at the beginning of Book VII (chapter IX in Robin Waterfield's translation) (514a–520a). The Allegory of the Cave is presented after the metaphor of the sun (507b–509c) and the analogy of the divided line (509d–513e). Allegories are summarized in the viewpoint of dialectic at the end of Book VII and VIII (531d-534e).
In the dialogue, Socrates describes a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall by things passing in front of a fire behind them, and begin to ascribe forms to these shadows. According to Socrates, the shadows are as close as the prisoners get to viewing reality. He then explains how the philosopher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on the wall do not make up reality at all, as he can perceive the true form of reality rather than the mere shadows seen by the prisoners.

The task was given to my group, we have to related the real world with the the Plato's analogy. we have chosen Malaysian political system. In our opinion,

The prisoners is symbolise The Malaysian's citizen

The Chains is symbolize The Laws that our country have

The Fire is symbolize The Politicians in Malaysia country

The Shadows and The Image
is symbolize their manifesto before election day, they say promise to people.

The Puppet Players is symbolize The wealthy people and the person who are standing behind them are politicians.

The Old Man is symbolize knowledge

the reason why the prisoners hurt his eyes when he was first liberate it is because the prisoners cannot accept the truth thing what happens in their life.

the prisoners still insist that the images which he has seen before is real that the statues because, they cannot accept the truth thing and of course the truth thing is very hurtful...

The mystery of "Jack the Ripper".............

A serial killer murdered and mutilated at least five prostitutes in the East End of London in 1888 and because no one was ever arrested or tried for the murders, crime buffs are still fascinated with the Jack the Ripper case more than 115 years later.
"Jack The Ripper" is the name given to unknown killer due to correspondence at the time from someone claiming to be the killer signed with that name. But while the murders were taking place, the assailant was know as the Whitechapel Murder or "Leather Apron."
There is some dispute concerning how many victims Jack The Ripper claimed. Some believe that he killed only four prostitutes during his spree, while others think that he may have killed as many as nine. It is generally accepted that there were five victims.

Victims of Jack The Ripper

These are the Ripper's victims that most experts agree on:
  • Mary Ann (Polly) Nichols, murdered on Bucks' Row, Friday, August 31, 1888.
  • Annie Chapman, murdered at 29 Hanbury Street, Saturday, September 8, 1888.
  • Elizabeth Stride, murdered on Berner Street, Sunday, September 30, 1888.
  • Catharine Eddowes, murdered in Mitre Square, Sunday, September 30, 1888.
  • Mary Jane (Marie Jeanette) Kelly, murdered at Number 13 Miller's Court, Friday, November 9, 1888.
Although there were 13 other women murdered in the East End area from December 1887 until April 1891, most observers agree that they were not the victims of the Ripper.

WORST MOVIE EVER!!..JENG JENG JENG~~

This film focused on alien who are seeking to stop humans from creating a doomsday weapon that would destroy the universe. The alien named this plan as PLAN 9, a scheme to resurrect the dead one called ghouls to get the human attention.

This film is directed and written by Ed Wood Jr.

Starring by : Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tom Keene, Tor Johnson and else.

My comment on PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE :
I think this is my worst movie ever that i watched. There are too many mistakes in this movie. First, the actors were forgot their script and they just simply said what they wanted. Second, when the UFO make the huge flash that knocks down people at cemetery down, one of  the police officers kicks a tombstone as he falls and wobbles back and forth. Third, when the men first enter the spaceship, one of the windows shows an afternoon sky on the one next to it shows a nighttime sky. This are just some of the mistakes, there are a lot more in this movie. However, Plan 9 from outer space still has its best watched that are it is an unintentionally funny movie and glorious on its own. This is a serious movie but the mistakes made it funny and i still enjoy it even it is a bored movie with no strong plot. I think Ed Wood Jr. wanted to show audience that not everyone can made worst movie and that is his advantage. Nevertheless, this is still worst movie ever made.

~~OH NO!!..MY SUPERSTITION~~

SUPERSTITION : Excessively credulous belief in and reverence for the supernatural. A widely held but irrational belief in supernatural influences, especially as bringing good or bad luck.

I will use my left and right brain to view my opinion about two superstitions..

My first superstition : Pineapple is a sign of a good fortune (Chinese superstition)

  • Right Brain 1 : Pineapple is a symbol of fortune for Chinese community as the color of the pineapple symbolises good luck
  • Right brain 2 : Pineapple can easily found as good fortune also can be easily found too.

  • Left brain 1: Pineapple is a fruit and does not have any good fortune
  • Left brain 2 : Colour does not affect someone's fortune.
My second superstition : Seeing an elephant when one is leaving for a journey is considered lucky. (Indian superstition)

  • Right brain 1 : Elephant is one of Indian lord that called Lord Ganesha and it is considered lucky to see their god in their way of journey.
  • Right brain 2 : Seeing elephant maybe means that there are no danger in the way because elephant is a big and brave animal that will make other animals scared.

  • Left brain 1: Lucky does not depend on animal because animal is animal that did not brings any means.
  • Left brain 2 : Someone does not need luck to begin a journey.

EUREKA!!..NOW I KNOW!!

I have too many Eureka moments before this but I do not realize it until I learn it in critical literacy subject. However, there is a Eureka moment that i want to share that makes me realise that expectation is different from the real on. In my school, there is one class for every form that takes Arabic language and that is my class. This class has 22 students and has balance number of boys and girls. When first class started, our class teacher wanted us to choose our class rep and his assistance. A boy had volunteered to be the leader and that made me thought that he is quite annoying. Most of my friends in my class also seem to think just like me.

             Form 1:
A girl from my class had fallen for him and had wrote a letter just to told him that she wanted to be his friend but she had been rejected. Not just that, that boy also said something harsh that made that girl felt very sad. Since that, I had been hated him for 3 years straight although he was in the same class with me. I thought he was an egoistic boy that thinks he was better than anyone else. I never talked to him and always avoided from him until I form 4.

Form 4:
When I was in form 4, I had to be in a class that same with him again and that made me hated being on that class. One day, our chemistry teacher wanted us to make a group and we cannot choose our group members because she will make draw luck to make a balance group. I was very shocked when I saw him in the same group with me. One of my friends told me to be professional and I had to try to befriend with him. We started to work together and I became good with him.
Suddenly, he sent me a message asking me about if I have something that i do not like about him. I honestly told him what I felt about him and after that we became close and share our opinion together. We become best friend and finally I know the real meaning of expectation is different from the real one.  I was totally wrong about him and he was not same at all with my expectation. I felt regret because hating him for a long time without any good reason.
 Sorry friend...hehehe

P.S: This is not a love story....

My Introduction to Critical Literacy!!..YEAY!!

This is my first blog for the subject Critical Literacy. I will use this blog to express my opinion and share it with everyone. For me, by studying critical literacy, it enables me to analyse something that i read differently and makes it fun to read. Critical literacy also teaches me to think logically and emphatically. Critical thinking enables me to think deeper about some issue rather than observing the surface only.

I hope that i will do well in this subject. Honestly, I am impressed by the way Sir Kamaraziz deliver the content of the subject. it is very fun and enjoyable. Thanks to him, that i am viewing the world in different perspective.
